Terms of service
What this site is, what an account commits you to, and the conduct expected in the discussion forums.
Nature of the content
Real Life After AGI is an independent reference and discussion site about AGI risk and preparedness. It is not professional financial, legal, medical, or security advice.
Pages marked working draft carry real analysis that is not yet backed by citations on the page. Every page shows its own status and revision date, and the sourcing standard explains what each status means. Weigh a draft page accordingly.
Accounts
You must provide a valid email address, and you are responsible for the security of your password and your account. You may not impersonate another person or organization, or share your account with others. What is stored against an account, and how credentials are handled, is set out in the privacy policy.
Forum conduct
The forums are attached to a reference work, so they are held to the same standard as the pages. These four rules are the canonical version — the signup page and the forums link here rather than keeping their own copy.
- Argue with the claim, not the person. Threads that turn into harassment are removed, and accounts that keep doing it are suspended.
- Bring a source where one exists. “Someone told me” is a legitimate contribution as long as it is labeled as that, rather than presented as established.
- No doom performance, and no dismissal by default. Both cost every other reader the same amount of time, and neither settles anything.
- Stay on topic for the chapter. Illegal content, spam, and deliberate misinformation are removed when we find them.
You keep ownership of what you post, and grant us a license to display it on the site for as long as your account or that post exists.
No warranty
The site and its content are provided as they are, without warranty of any kind, including accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. Treat the information here as one input among others when making a real decision — that is what the source index is for.
Changes
We may update these terms as the site develops. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms; the revision date above marks the last change.
