Field reference Rev. 2026.4
A field reference on artificial general intelligence.
10 chapters: how capability is measured, what it would change for labor, power and information, the specific mechanisms that could make it catastrophic, what life after AGI might require, and the household and institutional measures that follow. Chapters
Where to start
Chapters 01 and 02 set the vocabulary and the consequence model the rest depends on. After that the manual branches by what you are responsible for. Each chapter is also written to stand alone, for readers returning to check one protocol.
Household lead
You want the vocabulary, then the checklist you can act on this month.
Policy and strategy
You need the consequence model and the governance levers that exist today.
Technical and safety
You want capability measurement, the oversight problem, and the off-ramps.
How this manual is sourced
Reviewed articles link evidence where each consequential claim is made. A consolidated reference list follows the article, and the source index separately tracks recurring reports, official documents, studies, and named expert positions. Company disclosures and expert forecasts are identified as such rather than presented as independent findings.
118 of 119 sub-topic pages currently carry citations. The source index records recurring core material; each article's own reference list is the complete record for that page.
Figures in this field go stale quickly. Every page records when it was last revised, and the revision log records what changed. If a number here contradicts a newer primary source, the primary source wins.
Discussion
Every chapter has a threaded forum attached. Reading is open to everyone; posting needs a free account.
